New member, long-time M15 owner
Hi, all, I am going to be getting my M15 out of the garage in Fresno and moving it to Washington State soon. I have a few things I need to do to make it seaworthy again (and highway worthy, too.) First, my tow vehicle is a Subaru Forester. First job is to get a hitch put on; this is where I got stalled last summer as the dealer never got the hitch in before I had to leave for Washington. I really wish I had one of the newer trailers but I don't think that is going to happen unless I can find one in Northern California. I definitely need new trailer tires. (My boat is an 84, #321.) Then I MAY need a new motor; I have the old Suzuki and have not run it in ten years. Anyway, any advice on towing vehicle, motors, and getting a boat out of "dry dock" is welcomed. Bobbie
Re: "First job is to get a hitch put on; this is where I got stalled last summer as the dealer never got the hitch in before I had to leave for Washington." Bobbie, I have just pulled a boat out of similar storage (from under a deck) from a woman that had stored the boat. (btw- I have four trailerable boats). I was glad I brought tire and tail light bulbs & tools also, even the connector was filled with Spider webs & dirt. A squirt of 'Wonder Drug' 40 [WD40] for hitch parts in your 'Care Package'? Have you considered the option of U-Haul hitch? In San Jose area, U-Haul can will install the right frame hitch for your vehicle. - And quickly too - (so you won't be stalled again?). Just an option?? The guy that solves my lawn motor type problems, also 'does magic' (where I can't) with all other small motors, replacing gas rotted gaskets if need be. Change the oil, yes, but he says 98% of the motors that "won't start" are because of old gas - nothing more. So try fresh gas 1st, then get help?? Before condemning the old Suzuki, let a small motor man look at it? Have you been watching Craigs List for trailer? (I saw a free one not long ago). Hope that helps, Gordon M8 Coba' ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bobbie Mayer" <barbaram@csufresno.edu> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2005 7:17 AM Subject: M_Boats: New member, long-time M15 owner
