Happy Thanksgiving to all my Monty friends
I am very thankful that I have met so many of you whether in person or through this crazy cyberspace thing. The folks that we have met through sailing this Monty of ours have enriched our lives more than you will ever know. Those that we haven't had the opportunity to meet in person yet, I hope to eventually. Thank you all for your guidance, support, ideas, and most of all Friendship. Happy Thanksgiving! ;-) Sean (and Jo) M23 Dauntless **************Life should be easier. So should your homepage. Try the NEW AOL.com. I also noticed in the Nov/Dec 'Small Craft Advisor' that someone started up a Texas 200 similar to the regatta in the PNW for small trailerables. this got me thinking about something on the east coast. Maybe in the Chesapeake, like a Solomon to Tangier, or around the outer banks like an Oriental to Ocracoke. I'm retired and other than working on my thesis of how to turn beer, wine and spirits into amonia based liquids, I have time to help out on this. Joe Seafrog M-17
I haven't seen any messabouts advertised for that area; I know a boat designer that has an informal messabout for his designs out of Vandemere, NC (near Oriental). I'll ask him about any others looking to do a general messabout in that area. On Mon, Dec 1, 2008 at 10:58 AM, Joe Murphy <seagray@embarqmail.com> wrote:

I have been in contact with a person in PA to organize a one night messabout on the Chesapeake but they did not want to lead it. I did see a notice about a 150 mile RAID being planned for 2010 in the NC area. I saved it away but of course can't find it right now. It was to be modeled after the Texas 200 and was being sponsored by someone from NC who was in it. He did not want to drive all that way when the local area is quite suitable. You might check some of the forums on the Texas 200 looking for this post. I have thought of sponsoring 1 on the Chesapeake for a while but haven't come across a suitable locations. Most of the messabouts are for beachable boats where most people drive to and camp for the weekend. Are you interested in a messabout or a RAID style event? I host a non-advetised Montgomery boat Chesapeake bay Cruise every year which are 3 - 7 day cruises with no competive flavor whatsoever. These are the short variety if I participate in a two week North Channel style cruise. It is very difficult to find a launching area that will handle 20 - 50 boats and trailers for a few days. How does the BEER cruise handle the launching and parking issues? The Texas 2000 is more of an adventure cruise that caters to the same class of beach cruisers. If you were to sponsor one I will work with you to make it happen. It would provide a good forum to share all of your thesis work. We may even turn it into your PhD orals presentation ( tall slurred tales?) They say that Oriental is the sailboat capital of the east. Don't know exactly how that survey overlooked Anapolis. Maybe they meant the southeast. Anyway, I have sailed on the Neuse and it is a fabulous sailing area. I don't think there is anything currently advertised for a 'messabout'. But I can't think of a nicer area to do such a thing.
