M17 #393 is for sale in Boulder Colorado
Haven't been monitoring the monty list for some time. Looked at it today and saw that some folks are looking for a Monty mid country. I'm in Boulder, CO and my M17 #393 is no longer in use. I intended to put it up for sale in the spring. Please contact me at davidcpatterson@msn.com. I sailed this great old boat for three seasons on local lakes, including 8280 foot Lake Granby, Colorado all season before last. Didn't sail her last season, since I picked up a different boat. I was resistant to selling her, in case the recent boat didn't work for me, but it has. Anyway, contact me by email if you have an interest. David Patterson
Hello, Yes, I would be very interested in the Montgomery 17. What year is it? Can you send me some pictures? How much do you want? I have found 2 more in or near Denver. Maybe I will fly over before the end of the year and take a look. Thanks, Roger Thiede ----- Original Message ----- From: "David C. Hey Roger, Was I ever surprised to see your message this morning! I see you are still casting about for a Monty. I find that most interesting, because about 10 days ago we exchanged messages, I sent you numerous boat photos, and we subsequently spoke telephonically about the purchase of my Monty 15. You made an offer, I countered and you accepted. We discussed in detail how payment would be made, and you told me you would travel to my residence in Colorado the following day to pick up the boat. Even though you called me back several hours later to advise me you would be delayed, that is the last I heard from you. Roger, I completely accept the notion that you may have had a change of heart regarding the agreed purchase, but don't you think the honorable thing to have done would have been to call me and let me know? It makes me consider the possibility that you are engaging in some kind of perverse boat-buying sport. I think the responsible thing for me to do is to caution others on the list with a boat for sale that any agreement with you should be viewed with skepticism. As a person who has owned (much to my wife's chagrin) three Montgomery sailboats at one time, I'm not sure a warning to the list was called for here. It brings home to me, at least, that Roger's, David's and Mike's business dealings should be conducted in private, off-list. t On Mon, Dec 5, 2011 at 9:27 AM, Michael Carter <carterconsultants@comcast.net> wrote:

Michael, You are absolutly right! I apologize for not being more considerate to you. Right after Thanksgiving a local boat came available and I started working on tring to buy it. I purchased that boat on December 3. It is a 1998 with a 2009 5HP Honda. It also has brand new sails. I am in the process of helping a friend find a Mongomery 17 so that is why I am still looking. Again, I apologize. Thank you for your effort. You're a standup guy, Roger. Of course I accept your apology with absolutely no ill will. I wish you well with your new boat. Now, time to get back to the business of boating. Oh, btw, I still have a near-perfect 15 available in time for the Havasu PCC. Anyone?
