Hi Norm, Not knowing the size and shape of your transducer, let me give you some past experience from larger ships... There transducers were mounted in a piece of PVC pipe, cut to fit the hull shape so that the transducer was looking "down" properly. The PVC pipe was held in place using some modeling clay. You then add some mineral oil inside the pipe - just enough to provide a signal path from the face of the transducer through the oil to the hull - and give it a try. If it works well in that spot you can make a permanent installation; if not, you can try another spot without too much trouble.
