Hi all, I'm glad someone has asked the question about the amount of tension one should have on the shrouds of the M15. On the two occasions where I took my M15 down to Tampa Bay, I have been told by other, "more experienced" sailors that the rig was too loose. When the side stay snapped and I lost the mast last Nov. I was told that it could have been because the shroud was too loose and on tacking in a brisk wind, created a snapping effect when the sail moved over and the mast naturally put tension on the stay. When I re-rigged the boat this spring, I tensioned the side stays as tight as possible with the stay adjusters supplied. So, all info is gratefully received. Time for a cool change!
