Re: M_Boats: Sail Sizes and Features
Those V-tailed Bonanzas are an interesting design. IIRC they had their share of ADs. Alas all I ever got to ride in was the Cessna 172 and a Piper Cub trainer whose trim tab was controlled by a bungee cord. Fond memories of flying up from LA to the Watsonville Air Show. On another note: just sailed Carquinez Strait with the NorCal Potters this past weekend. Unbelievably nice weather on Saturday, Sunday was wet 'n wild. I ha d the only MBoat this time. Lots of trip pics on the WWP trailer sailor forum, look for "Benecia" -Neil -----Original Message----- From: jerry <jerry@jerrymontgomery.org> Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2011 7:27 AM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: Re: M_Boats: Sail Sizes and Features Don MaKibbon retired in the late 80's. He was a great guy, had a Beechcraft, and I flew to many races with him. Great to show up at the Orange County airport a nd be in Mexico in 4 hours. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beowulf" <beowulf2@cox.net> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2011 6:31 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Sail Sizes and Features My 1981 M15 also came with McKibbin sails with the green sail bags. 30 years later they are still in very good condition. Although I consider them very well made sails, I have not used my boat that much over the years so that is more likely why they have held up so well. I have a main, working jib (100%) , and a jenny (150%) that sheets outside the shrouds. It is my understanding that McKibbin is long gone from the sail making industry. They were in Newport Beach/Costa Mesa, CA area. Mike Hall [The entire original message is not included]
