Joseph Hubert of Portland Oregon is the new owner of M17 #369. We would like to thank everyone who responded to our post and to Joseph for purchasing her. Also would like to thank Maria in Florida who was excited about the boat and understandably frustrated because we already had an appointment set up to show it. Hopefully there will be M17 come along for you soon. Mike and Kit
Hi, It's time to quit lurking and introduce myself. I'm Joe Hubert from Portland, OR. I bought Mike and Kit's M17 #369 a few weeks ago. This boat is in beautiful condition. Mike should have asked more for her. I'm going to call her "Puff". I needed a short name to fit between the rungs of the transom boarding ladder. I've been sailing for about 3 years on other people's boats. Last summer I sailed and maintained a Flicka in Port Townsend. http://www.xsw.com/tikaroa I learned a lot but a four hour commute is just too long for quick trips. It'll be nice to sail closer to home. I'm looking forward to doing some sailing on the Columbia River, San Juans, Flathead Lake in MT... I'll also have to try out Fern Ridge this summer and check out Mike and Kit's Cape Dory 25D. Joe, The fact that you sailed/maintained Tikaroa is too cool! I've had my eye on Tikaroa since last year (she's gorgeous): I think I found the link below on the Flicka Friends website. You'll love your new 17' . . . This is an outlandish statement, but most of the time, in most wind and wave conditions, I feel just as secure on my M17 as I did on my Flicka! My feeling of security on the M17 is especially remarkable considering the Monty is about 1/3 the displacement of the Flicka. Welcome aboard! --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Hubert" <joehh@attglobal.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, March 15, 2002 1:09 AM Subject: M_Boats: sale of m17 Hi, It's time to quit lurking and introduce myself. Greetings Joe and welcome, You picked up a real jewel! I'm sure you'll enjoy her. When you come to Fern Ridge you won't be lonely, there are 3 other M17s at Richardson Park Marina Grey Mist, Sea Weeble, and Grace. I think we're all on "E" dock too. So come on down and join the throng. Maybe we can coordinate a visit to your home waters too. Mark and Roberta Dvorscak M17 #400 GRACE
Roberta and Mark, Is that Fern Ridge in the Eugene, OR area? Lived there for 12 years prior to moving to Walla Walla. Beautiful area! Deena M-15 Pelican
Yes Deena, Fern Ridge Reservoir near Eugene Or. Is our closest and largest lake (we live in Roseburg). I also really enjoy sailing out of Winchester Bay on the coast but it is a longer commute and the Admiral doesn't always approve of the weather and sea conditions! With GRACE in the slip at Fern Ridge we can usually get a Friday evening sail in after work, sleep on the boat and sail all day Saturday and Sunday if we want. Very convenient. If you ever get back this way stop on in! Mark and Roberta Dvorscak M17 #400 GRACE
Thanks for the info-I do remember Fern Ridge as a nice lake for small sailboats...sometimes(always!) it is a real pain to have a job...interferes with the sailing schedule. Harvey and Deena M-15 Pelican #348
