There was a little pedal boat designed by Gary Hoyt called the "Water Bug"

So that's what it was! I saw one years ago in Maine, and it was a beautiful little boat -- it looked like the front of a sailplane, and under the canopy there was a set of pedals that looked designed for long-distance pedalling. It looked like a "serious" boat rather than a toy, if you see what I mean. Giles Morris
