Re: M_Boats: swim ladder preference?
Doug, The Windline telescoping ladders are pretty sweet. They make a 3 step model that is available everywhere, and a 4 step model they make for the Potter 19 that is even better. You can order it from International Marine. Larry On Thu, 31 Mar 2011 17:40:19 -0700 (PDT) Doug Kelch <doug_kelch@yahoo.com> writes:

Having had some experience with trying to put a ladder on my M15 last summer, the Windline brand is solid. I looked around quite a bit for something to replace the hang-over-the-side ladder I've been attempting to use, and Windline was the best I found. Stainless steel and solid design in the steps (steel not plastic), attachment points as well as the ladder support (so it doesn't flop under the boat). The telescoping ones are worth it. my 2 bits Chris On Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 9:00 PM, W David Scobie <wdscobie@yahoo.com> wrote:

The one I picked is like the one on e-bay # 360355353370 I didn't like the hinge on the windline. It takes 4 bolts and spreads the load well, folds and telescopes, but I haven't tried to break it yet Stan S. : Thursday, March 31, 2011, 7:00 PM you can order directly from windline (i did earlier this week) and save a few bucks - https://windline.com/index.php?act=viewmodels&prod=37 :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 - SWEET PEA - www.m17-375.webs.com :: Sage Marine - www.sagemarine.us --- On Thu, 3/31/11, Larry E Yake <leyake@juno.com> wrote:

Hmmm - I do like the looks of this one. Any thoughts about the narrow 8" steps vs the windline 12 " Doug ________________________________ From: Stan Susman <stanpfa@pacbell.net> To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 7:36:27 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: swim ladder preference? Doug, When I went looking for a ladder for my boat, I didn't like the ladders that mounted tight against the transom. It seemed difficult to hold onto and climb up. I liked the ladder that had a bit of a stand-off from the transom, like the one you posted. Eight inches may seem narrow, but you only need to place one foot on a rung at any given time. Good luck with your search. Doug, Its been several years since I ordered my Windline 4-step. At that time Windline made a modified 4-step transom mounted ladder specifically for the Potter and was only available for purchase from International Marine. The modification for the Potter added a friction clamp to hold the ladder in the up position. If that's of interest to you I might have a picture I can forward. Randy G. I installed a Windline that I purchased from Bob. He got me the ladder, and made me the teak block that holds the ladder up as well as the backing wood and all the hardware to boot. Have not used it to get out of the water yet, but it seems sturdy.
