Increasing Boat Collection
All, I just picked up another Lyle Hess boat. This time it's an 8' Fatty Knees complete with sailing rig. We're well into fall here in the Northeast, so I'll have to store my new toy for the winter. Then I'll spend the early spring sprucing her up. She' s a bit large to tow behind my M-15, so I plan to use her in the local tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay to putt around with my 7 yr old son. Hi Skip, What a great way to introduce your son to sailing and "puttering around in small boats". Fair winds, Tom B On Sun, Nov 22, 2015 at 7:46 AM, Skip Campion via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

Congrats!! Same Hessamatism or Hessitis disease as me, Skip. Got a 8' fatty knees with the sail rig, a M-17 flush deck I just finished a long restore on with carbon rig etc and last but not least a mid 90's NorSea 27 re-done from the keel up too. Both are rigged with Dux, no stainless wire. The M-17 and a Hobie 21 Sport Cruiser are the travel/vacation boats. All are great fun and were great projects! But can't get my teenage daughter on any of them once they hit the water... A childhood summer camp instilled fear or tipping over. That's a work in progress. Tim Sent from my iPad

There are several venues in the Puget Sound area that have fatty knees type boats as well as others. Try the Center for WoodenBoats on Lake Union in Seattle and the WoodenBoat Foundation in Port Townsend. I have seen 1 or 2 at each of the numerous boating events, Pocket Yacht Palooza in July at Port Townsend. Harbor Days in Olympia (I think on Memorial Day weekend), and WoodenBoat Festival in September in Port Townsend. Sorry that you may need to use a magnifier or bifocals to read this, I usually use a larger font, but M boats does not allow me to do that. Perhaps the M boat web site manager will grow older some day and need bifocals too, then will comprehend the need for a bigger font.
