I would not recommend dropping your sails and motoring in windy conditions. (I guess it depends what the windy conditions are.) I have sailed a M 15 on San Francisco Bay in 25 knots of wind with a storm jib and a double reefed main. She handled just fine. What it's like with winds of 30 knots and above I don't know.
