Re: M_Boats: Bow pulpit. My boat did not come with a bow pulpit. Is there any resource for getting one made or used.
Catalina Direct sells a mount that you can bolt on to the pulpit to hold an Aqua Signal series 25 bi-color light - https://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm/product/3707/navigation-light-brack... :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com On Tue, Jun 19, 2018, 12:35 AM Lawrence Winiarski via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:
If you get the pulpit, I might suggest getting it ready for wiring for a bow light before installing it. A bow lighton the pulpit is nicer than a deck mount as the jib is in the way.
It would be nice to have a little square piece of metal at the top of the pulpit welded, ready to attach a bow light, with anhole for the bow light wiring to go into the pulpit, along with drilling an entrance hole in the bottom, so the wires can be fully inside the pulpit and run from the cabin up through the railing. Easier to do now, rather than later.

I always mount accouterments on the bow pulpit "inside" the rails instead of projecting on the "outside" where they can snag lines, etc. Fair winds, Tom Buzzi On Tue, Jun 19, 2018 at 7:45 AM, Dave Scobie <scoobscobie@gmail.com> wrote:

Thats a sweet mount, I'd go for it in a heartbeat if it was $20...but $40 just hurts. I fabricated my own backing plate from 316 stainless and paid a local shop to weld it to the pulpit, more or less exactly as described in your earlier e-mail. Looks and works great, but total cost was more than $40. If you do not have access to free welding, that Catalina Direct bracket is not such a bad deal. I cobbled up something with 2 stainless steel hose clamps last year. This discussion has got methinking I think I could do better though Maybe I think using longer hose clamp with a few inches of excess tail sticking out and just bend the tails toform 2 L bracket one for the left side of the light, and the other for the right and just screw right onto the tails. I also wanted to put some waterproof connectors on so I can take the light off easily. it's on my "todo" list. MY light seemed to get water in it over time. I drilled a drain hole in the bottom of it From: "swwheatley@comcast.net" <swwheatley@comcast.net> To: 'Lawrence Winiarski' <lawrence_winiarski@yahoo.com>; 'For and about Montgomery Sailboats' <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2018 12:01 PM Subject: RE: M_Boats: Bow pulpit.
