Hi All, It's been a while, but we are pleased to announce that our Montgomery 23 is finally in the water. It is boat #2 with the new style deck. Construction began in 2004. Gail decided to drive the project to completion (bless her) a couple of years ago. It had been sitting at our factory since 2010. The boat was completed by Mr. Ron Moore and his wife Martha (bless them) of Moore Sailboats. There was a lot of work to be done so the project took a while. Ron Moore is a master boat builder extraordinaire, so the build quality is exceptional. (He built our Moore 24 for us back in '84, which we still sail). He and Martha came out of retirement to do this project for us. Inboard diesel, custom sails and custom cushions. We had to increase the length of the double berth, complete all of the electrical, redo the centerboard and add a hoist, go through the engine, which had never been run and complete construction of the interior, We re looking forward to spending quality time on her. salngail glesser (Persistence is King)
Hi Sal, It’s nice to know the ending to the story. I always wondered how things ended, other than starting your own boat building business. I’m still disappointed I never got to buy a Sage 15. Oh well, life goes on The best of luck with the new M-23. I hope you have many years of enjoyable adventures. Skip Campion M-15 #208 1982 M-5.8 #27 1973

Awesome news, if you get a chance I would love to see some photos. Sounds like a really unique boat! Congratulations! Glad to hear she's finally been completed. Would also love to see a photo or two when you have a chance. Especially of the interior Agree that persistence pays well. That's great! I know it hasn't been easy. Let us know how she sails. ________________________________ From: Mark Dvorscak <mdvorscak56@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, July 28, 2023 9:10 PM To: salglesser@aol.com <salglesser@aol.com>; For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: M_Boats: Re: M23 launched Congratulations! HI All, I am seeking help in setting up the main sheet rigging set up for our M23. Currently there is nothing set up. Any information or photos of a M23 Main sheet rigging set up would be appreciated. Thanx much in advance. sal In a message dated 7/28/2023 1:06:26 PM Mountain Daylight Time, montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com writes: Hi All, It's been a while, but we are pleased to announce that our Montgomery 23 is finally in the water. What a long strange trip it’s been! Enjoy the fruits of your labor. A photo(s) of the cockpit with the boom on the centerline and out as far as it will go when sailing would help in seeing what type of mainsheet would work well. Have fUn, enjoy the boat! Sal, I looked back thru some pictures from the old San Juan Rendesvous and it looks like Sea Cutter, the first of the new model M23's, had end boom sheeting to the stern pulpit. I don't have any pictures that show the details clearly, but here's one of the original owners Fred and Lilly Shelley that shows its location. Hi Larry, Thanx much. Very useful. Fred & Lilly had boat #1, ours is #2. #3 was sold to a couple in the North East. Fred and Lilly sold their boat to a couple in Canada, then they purchased a Sage 17. (They were present at the launch of the 1st Sage 17 that Jerry built, which I believe Tyler now owns.) We prefer the rear mounted rigging and will try to replicate it. best, sal In a message dated 8/17/2023 8:34:48 PM Mountain Daylight Time, larryyake@gmail.com writes: Sal, I looked back thru some pictures from the old San Juan Rendesvous and it looks like Sea Cutter, the first of the new model M23's, had end boom sheeting to the stern pulpit.
