Dear List Members: In 1996 Jerry Montgomery sold the molds for production of the Montgomery boats to Chuck McCoy of Annapolis, Maryland. I was in the market to purchase a Montgomery 15. I decided to buy new from Mr. McCoy. I sent him a $ 2,000. security deposit and an executed a contract promising delivery to San Francisco by June 15th. In May, Mr. McCoy informed me that the boat was out of the molds and a $ 5,000 payment was due. He met me in Oakland and I gave him the final payment. I felt very uncomfortable after meeting him, and releasing the funds, per agreement. He kept making promises, upon promises, delaying the delivery date but I never did get the boat. Nor did another member of this list get his new 17 after making a substantial payment. It turns out he had just picked up the M15 molds from Jerry the week before he got my 5K. I finally bought a used boat in December, 1996. It was a humiliating and frustrating experience. "Buyer Beware!!!!" Rich Cottrell "Really" M15
Chuck McCoy did finish at least 1 M15. I saw a mastless M15 at a dock off of the Patuxant river, MD last year. This M15 looked bran new and had an oversized green boot stripe and an oversized ( 2 strake) green water line. I understand that this color pattern is unique to Chuck. I wonder what color Cherri's new pretty boat boat from MD is? Doug "Seas The Day" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Try FREE Yahoo!
