I carry an older whitewater rescue throw bag on my boat and thought I'd pass the idea on to the list. The link below takes you to a product page for Northwest River Supply, an outfit that markets stuff to whitewater paddlers and rafters. I won't go into how you use it unless asked, but it works great for a quick MOB situation (if you're fast, you could just release all your sheets and toss the bag instead of sailing back), and between boats and boat to dock. Tons more effective than throwing a coiled line... t http://www.nrscatalog.com/product.asp?pfid=51825 Tom Smith & Jane Van Winkle Sandpoint, Idaho M15-345, Chukar M17-064, Unnamed
Great idea! My rescue squad uses them in swiftwater rescue work. The lines float, too, so can be readily grabbed by the person being rescued. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Smith, Tom" <Tom.Smith@itron.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, January 30, 2004 1:57 PM Subject: RE: M_Boats: Throw Rope I carry an older whitewater rescue throw bag on my boat and thought I'd pass the idea on to the list. Tom: Good idea. I have a less robust version of that from some boat place. NRS is only 10 miles from me in Moscow Idaho. I'll check out their version next time I'm over there. --Gary On Friday, January 30, 2004, at 10:57 AM, Smith, Tom wrote:
