We launched our "new" 1979 M23 yesterday for the first time! I managed to do something wrong with everything during our first setup of the boat but each mistake was easily remedied (it just took longer to get things right). We quickly discovered that it was impossible for us to raise the mast the same way that we used to do it on the M17 (I just had to try). The gin pole and mainsheet for mechanical advantage is definitely the way we have to go. Once we hit the water, though, everything was sweet. My hat's off to Jerry and Lyle. This boat is a joy to sail. My wife was happy, I was happy, the sun was shining and the wind was blowing - a perfect day of sailing. Topped off, of course, by a celebratory stop at a good steakhouse before heading for home. Fair Winds to all, I hope you're sailing soon as well. Mark and Roberta 1979 M23 #74 Faith
