When I loosened my outhaul the boom separated from the gooseneck, which was attached to the mast. In light winds it wasn't too much of a problem to reinsert the rod back into the boom and retighten the outhaul, but I shudder to to think what would happen in strong winds. I couldn't figure how to attach it to the boom. Seems like I'm missing a part? Recommendations? Thanks, Kevin
Kevin. The end of the rod that goes into the boom-end fitting should have a hole for a cotter pin. The rod is held in place a fender washer that is between the boom end fitting and cotter pin. You need to take off the boom end fitting to put a new washer and cotter pin in place and then reinstall the assembly in the boom-end. Here is a link to an assembly to give you an idea of how things should work/look - https://www.dwyermast.com/itemdetails.asp?itemID=30 :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com <<-- new site!
