Thanks for all of your input. I've been sailing for 40 years and I know what reefing equipment looks like because I have reefed many different mainsails on large and small boats. This boat does not have any reefing gear, period. What I have gleaned from the discussion is that I will need to rig this boat for reefing myself, and I have the ability and knowledge to do this. My question for the manufacturer is this. The web page lists mainsail reefing as standard equipment. This boat built by NorSea doesn't have Any reefing equipment for the mainsail. I'm going to call the company tomorrow , or Mr. Eng you can chime in any time you wish. If reefing is so important on the M15 then this boat is incomplete. If not standard equipment, take it off of your web page under the list of standard equipment. That is my only point, this boat does not have any way of reefing the mainsail. I'm sure Bob Eeg can speak for himself. But… You did buy a used boat, not a new boat. We don't know what arrangement the previous owner had with Bob, or what was standard equipment in 2007. Quite a number of folks on this list have bought new M15's from Bob, and have been very happy. I conversed via email with Bob back in 2011 when I considered a new M15. It was easy to explain what I wanted, and starting from a new boat, he was very happy to comply and knew what he was talking about. As it turned out, I got a used 1982 boat built by Jerry Montgomery himself, and am very pleased. Now, a boat from 1982 is bound to have a few changes! Indeed, there are holes and stuff I have no idea what they were thinking. In any event, I have the thing rigged to my heart's content now. Sounds like you have lots of experience. If your sail has the grommets, then no need to go to the sail maker. You can do the rest of the rigging yourself. I bought my boat from Bob Becker, and I don't think he reefed it much, since I could not figure out how he did it! I'm sure he would have been happy to tell me had I asked. So, I rigged it myself complete with the new gooseneck hook. Must have cost me all of $75 when I was done. As it is I just contacted my local sailmaker to add another set of reef points. So, I'll be adding another cheek block, jam cleat, and line. Enjoy the M15. It is a wonderful boat. Daniel Rich M15 #208 "Kestrel" danielgrich@gmail.com On Jul 8, 2012, at 4:29 PM, Tim Erwin wrote:

I'll second that! I LOVE my 1982 M15. (PS I just had single line reefing and a lot more added). -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Daniel Rich Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2012 8:48 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: Re: M_Boats: Mainsail reefing again I'm sure Bob Eeg can speak for himself. Takes me about two minutes to lower main, tie in reefs on main and tighten main halyard if I have to reef on the water. It's not that big a boat. Usually know what the wind looks like when I start out and chose my smaller jib and reef before I start if it seems prudent. Now if your main does not have any reef points, you do have a problem. ________________________________ From: Tim Erwin <sailtim@yahoo.com> To: "montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, July 8, 2012 7:29 PM Subject: M_Boats: Mainsail reefing again Thanks for all of your input.
