Nice... I also made new hatch boards for my M17 this spring. I looked at using Starboard or similar, but from comments & feedback on this list & my own deliberations, I decided to not use it (a lot to do with how heavy it is, and also with how much it shrinks/expands with temperature). I will have some pix up eventually, but very briefly, I used 12mm Baltic birch plywood (9-ply, just a touch under 1/2"), doused in CPES on all edges, glassed on outside, epoxy coated all sides & edges, then varnished (to protect epoxy from UV). I cut the joints between boards at 45 deg. aft-sloping overlap to shed water, no need for overlap-strips. A bit more work, but sure looks nice, and durable enough with a lot less weight.
