Steve, I like this system. Thanks for the heads up and the link. I'm planning to sew in a second reef on my mainsail, so I think I'll try the split line. Is it necessary for the second reef line to go all the way forward on the starboard side of the boom, or could it be tied off to a padeye like the first reef line is? Also, should both reefing lines be pulled down to the boom directly below the new clew or should that point be farther aft so it tends to flatten the sail when cleated off.
