Tim, I sympathize on the back issue. My orthopedist says my nearly-80-year- old back, in layman terms, is mush. I don't know how much usable beam there is in a M-17 cabin, but in my old Cape Cod Catboat I made my version of a recliner or hammock. Worked great for my back. Good Old Boat had it in their March/April '05 issue, if you have old ones. If not, I could scan and send it to you. Even has a photo of my exotic dancer granddaughter in it!
