Well Larry, If you like to tinker with your sails, I feel you have the correct approach judging by Corndog's illustrious history of speed in the San Juans. But of course, if you are like me, one of the great pleasures of sailing is always having lines, sails, rudders, and do-dads to putz with! My boat came with the original Armstrong sails. I replaced them in the late 90's. I did perform the loose-foot mod to the Armstrong main. I'll see how she performs on my classic yellow M17 "Bonita".
