Sue's input, She Lovvvved the room at the Nautical Inn and the restaurant too. She would love to stay there again. If we keep that our base we have the problem of the exposed docks so I know that is an issue. But that is her two cents! Jim, We would go with the gang, but my wife and I also like the Nautical. I have been wondering if the big Anchor Buddy shockcords would work for mooring close to shore in the cove. Presumably one could bring a 17 close enough in to jump off the bow, then let the boat sprong out 5-10 feet or so. Who would do the first experiment? Would the management complain about a boat sticking out 27 feet? Tom, Last year I did not get into the water until Saturday, but I know some boats other than Potters did beach or close to beach in the cove. I am not sure if the Compac has a small keel or not but they were in shore. The problem with the docks is that they are exposed to the wind and swells if the conditions are right. That time of year I don't think anyone would complain if our boat were "floating"out a little ways as long as they don't get loose. I sent you a copy of my pic's from the San Juans, hope they got to June Lake ok (I used the P.O. Box on the return address on the one you sent me). Jim, Thanks for the excellent pictures; you captured everything that made the trip great. As for limited beaching with a 17, I gather that there is some risk of sand or other debris jamming the centerboard. I don't know if that is a likely occurrence, but it would be nice to know if there is some way to push the board down from topside should it get stuck. Are detailed diagrams of the keel and centerboard system available? I know some of you out there mess about in shallow water, so your experiences would be very helpful. Thinking of Lake Havasu, for example, there are nice campgrounds that are only accessible by boat, and it would be sweet to run the bow up until the keel contacts the mud/sand, and step out on shore.
