Re: M_Boats: montgomery_boats Digest, Vol 77, Issue 43
When I was crewing hot air balloons, the propane tanks had to be heated overnight so the pressure wouldn't be too low. Critical if you are counting on BTU's for flight. Cooking an omelet might not be considered critical. It would be to me. Good food affects my attitude. Thanks for the recipe BTW! I guess one could take those cheap heating packages used to warm your hands and roll the propane cylinder in a towel for a while. I don't think it could generate enough heat to cause the overpressure valve to release. Just a thought. Kendall
My work has often caused me to live in tents at 0-25 F, and I have always cooked with unheated propane in 1 gallon tanks or little green cannisters. Don't know if they would keep me flying, but they cook just fine. I use butane with a small admixture of propane for lighting, and it seems to have a much lower freezing point than pure butane, but I have done no experiments to get the numbers. ----- Original Message ----- From: <kdocter@bellsouth.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 15, 2009 1:00 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: montgomery_boats Digest, Vol 77, Issue 43

That would be studying stream and lake ecology in high elevation (10,000-12,000') Sierra Nevada wilderness areas. Have to backpack in equipment and supplies due to various legal constraints, and live with no impact. As I get closer to 70, the 70 lb packs are somewhat less appealing, and someday soon they will be less doable. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gordon Gilbert" <gordon@financialwriting.net> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 15, 2009 4:32 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: montgomery_boats Digest, Vol 77, Issue 43

You could always pre-heat propane cylinders on your Origo alcohol stove <<<BOOOMMM>>> On Jul 15, 2009, at 3:00 PM, kdocter@bellsouth.net wrote:
