Re: M_Boats: Where ? Re: Montgomery 17 for sale
I travelled from Minnesota to Vancouver Island to purchase my M17 -- 3450 miles roundtrip. The scenery was great. The drive was (mostly) relaxing. It was worth it - even the hassle of the border crossing. Think of it as a road trip vacation where you get to come home with more than a T-shirt. I live in Vancouver Canada but after a year of looking I selected and bought my boat (M17 "Serenity") in Arizona, she was in pristine condition, right vintage & configuration and met my budget (including $1500 in travel costs to pick the boat up). I found the pre-qualification process from distance was pretty easy using lots of questions by phone and pictures sent via email by the seller. From a travel time perspective it took 3 days (good weather in Sept) to get to Lake Pleasant AZ, and a day to inspect the boat and make a final decision to purchase. When I got there there were no surprises... It was then 4 long days back home (a little slower with the boat in tow), coming home we travelled up the middle Nevada via US 93 North of LAS Vegas then thru Oregon to the Columbia Gorge and home via the I5. This route took most of the big hills and mountain passes out of the equation. I suspect the trip would be a few hours shorter for Washington State folk... The way I see it hopefully the boat will be with this person for many years to come.... A long trip is easily forgotten with the passage of time. In my case I plan to either pass Serenity down in my will, or get buried at sea in her, as I foresee no circumstance where I would voluntarily part with her! brought Latitude on one of the San Juan cruises and I can attest that it is a beautiful boat.

Hi, We currently have a 2010 Montgomery 15 which our son's bought for us after our 23 foot sailboat was damaged in a launch ramp accident . As we are getting less mobile with age , we believe a little larger boat would be more accommodating. We are located in Pennsylvania-near Valley Forge . Would it be feasible for us to come see your boat ? Vern and Freda Pidcoe

My M17 was purchased in Estes Park CO. I arranged shipping with a wonderful and ethical shipping broker by the name of Bob Price. His email is blprice@qwestoffice.net The boat was transported to Portland on a flat bed trailer and arrived safe and sound. The cost was approx $1300k and Bob's communications along the way were excellent. Becky M17 "Grace" #393 Sent from my iPad

Well, I walked about 100' to buy my M17. It was in my sailing club and I had looked at it for about a year before it went up for sale. Of, course, I drove about 1000 miles for a M15 so it kind of even out.
