Cockpit or boom tent sources for M17
Does anyone have a source for a good quality cockpit tent for an M17? Would like to make use of that area for overnighting...should the boat ever get delivered. Anyone using one? Issues, suggestions? Also, we will be doing the bottom primer and paint. Any recommendations, experience with the Interlux products for salt water? Stacy Smith
"Does anyone have a source for a good quality cockpit tent for an M17? Would like to make use of that area for overnighting...should the boat ever get delivered. Anyone using one? Issues, suggestions?" Hi Stacy. I am slowly developing a cockpit tent for my 17. What I am doing is is using some high grade poly (tarp-white) and forming it over the boom...a boom extention....as well as a cross piece at the transom. I am playing around with it...trimming here and there...tucking here and there...and hoping eventually to have a shape that works and fits the way I want it to. Then I will use the poly 'pattern' to make the final cover complete with zips and windows etc. What is slowing my development down is I don't actually need a cockpit tent all that often. Nights are so dry and warm around here in the summer months (when I normally cruise) I don't really need it much. When I have made the most use of it is a sun shade when spending a day or so at anchor on a hot day. Other than that, I have no idea as to wether an existing commercial tent exists or not. If it does, I might be a tad choked. ~:0)
