Boy, do I have to eat crow on that one. Mike is right, the boat was between south pylon and shore, actually in the surf. I clicked into the wrong ( later sequence) photos and lost perspective. And me, a native San Franciscan! From now on I'll keep my dumb comments to myself. Do I owe someone an Anchor Steam or what? Anyway, an amazing photo sequence. Thanks for keeping me honest. Bill K. A beautiful day in south Texas north winds were gusting to 30 knots it was exciting watching the wed night sailboat races, a "coordinated chaotic event" as the boats vie for position. And I am bummed, I finally got around to installing the new masthead sheaves I got from Dyer Mast and guess what? When I bought them I got the closest match I could get....well close isn't good enough. They are a bit to wide and after staring at the mast head for some time I thought "dang I should have taken a picture when I took them off 3 months ago" so I bring to you, my brothers in Montys' two requests. 1. Does anyone have a source for the 1 3/8 x 3/8 sheaves? 2. does anyone have a picture or a sketch of the masthead w/ the all lines to it for an M17? Thanks Gil
Gil, I don't have a source for the sheave, but: At the bottom of this page http://www.todspages.net/BBc-BuscaDetails.html are four pics of Busca's masthead. Only the main (green fleck) and jib (red fleck) and topping lift (green w/ white flecks) are installed. I jury rigged a spinnaker halyard once to try out my Thistle spinnaker, but that was a one-time test. Not actually rigged for spinnaker. Tod
Thanks mate. Those are excellent pictures. And help out a great deal. gilbert
Hi Gil Can you send me a photo (small JPEG) of the masthead? We have the sheaves made custom (for wire) and don't forget the metal plate ' spacer ' in between the two sheaves on the right and the two sheaves on the left. I would like to see what your masthead looks like. If its the same masthead, I have the 4 sheaves and the metal plate available. Give me a call Fair winds Bob Eeg (949) 489-8227 Gilbert Landin wrote:

bob I recieved the sheaves, I have not hade a chance to install, or measure, but thanks for the promptness, I was wondering... I have wondered at the fact that my jib halyard wire is a little thicker diameter than the main halyard is this normal or did the PO get them swapped? I did notice some meat hooks on the present main halyard and have read about some people going to all rope. What size rope is recommended and are there any advantages? thank you Gilbert BTW send me your mailing address so I can send you a check (what a trusting fellow)
Hi Gilbert Glad to help. You might have to move one of them back and forth on a flat piece of sandpaper to get a proper fit. Its too late for rope. Those sheaves will only work with wire. Have Jerry Montgomery make you a new set. Both main and jib should be the same size wire. Jerrymontgomery.org His pricing is very low. Do it right. For the sheaves and spacer send $15 to: Montgomery boats 1413 W. brooks st #5 Ontario, Ca. 91762 Make the check out to Montgomery boats. Take care Bob (949) 489-8227 gilbert landin wrote:
