My two cents. Ive got a removable Richie Navigator on the companionway hatch. Its got great visibility and quick response. I use a GPS (Garmmin 73) to Navigate but I hold my position with the compass, watching to keep the boat trimmed. (Plus a bearing compass on the bunk) I keep track of the wind bearing, etc. So the answer is, use both. Don in mobile (M-15 #620 Sweet Dream)
