Friends, I'm looking for a recommendation on a backstay adjuster for our M17. Anyone have a backstay adjuster on their 17 that they are happy with? Anyone using the kind that pinches the two short stays together to create tension? We originally were looking for an adjustable turnbuckle; some way to easily tension the stays without tools when raising and lowering the mast. In talking with Jerry he suggested we go with a backstay adjuster rather than an adjustable turnbuckle. Any help is appreciated! Thank you, Randy Graves M17 #410
Randy, I use the kind that pinches the two short stays together. Works fine and was cheap. I'm curious to know how much difference a BSA makes in pointing ability? Five degrees or more?
Randy: I put a backstay adjuster on my boat that I am very happy with (it pinches the short stays together). Give me your email address and I will try to shoot some pics this weekend. My boat is at my house with the mast down waiting for her new suit of sails but I'll try to rig it up with the backstay somewhat in place so you can see the blocks.
