Bill, I'm not an expert on deciphering the Monty VIN numbers, there isn't any number on the sail (like my other toys). I 'seem' to remember the paperwork stating Coba' was 1st sold in 1982. I also know the sails were like 'never used' (still folded and crisp in the sail kit bag). So anyway on the transom molded in, it says: MMP71648D 787 I think I'm confused here- I know how to extract the hull number from the MFR # on the Snipe - it's in the middle of the Mfr #. Is 787 the hull number for Coba'? or isn't that supposed to be the month & year made? I need the following for the site: What is the hull number? What state are you in? Take a look... www.MSOG.funtigo.com Bill
MMP is Montgomery Marine Products 71 means 7-11 which is the model of the dinghy. You call it a M_8 but its really a 7-11 648 is the hull number of this Montgomery 7 -11 dinghy. D is the month it was built. April. 787 is the year. 1987. So you own a 1987 Montgomery 7-11 with hull number 648, built in April 1987. Fair winds Bob (949) 489-8227 Gordon Allgrove wrote:

Thank You Bob, Very Helpful and that sets the record straight. I'll print that and keep it on file (the memory almost 'rusts' as fast as other waterfront stuff). Thanks to You, I just discovered that both sailboats were made the same year. I hope that helps Bill get the MSOG photo site correct. btw - I'm still looking for those Monty T-shirts, can you remember when did mailed them? Thanks Again, Gordon Coba' M 7-11 #648 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob" <Bobeeg@earthlink.net> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, November 14, 2004 6:05 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Re: Coba' Hull number 1987.
