Buying it from WM sort of instantly solves the problem, but......... You then have to cut the butt end down to fit the cheeks of the rudder properly. If I did it, I would want to slenderize the end I hold in my hand. Most tillers I've encountered are made for hands of gorillas. I like a dainty tiller end, and not be forced to hold on to the fat end of a baseball bat! If you don't make it yourself, there go all your pleasant excuses for enjoying your Scotch, while working in your shop! But, if you buy the long tiller from WM, and then modify as needed, plus the revarnishing that has to be done when you cut it down to proper size, that will still allow you to indulge in your Scotch, maybe not as much as if you built it entirely, but still enough for enjoyable evenings this coming winter.
