Happy First Day of April, Just wondering if anyone out there is using a trailer tongue extension that is removable, as in carried somewhere other than sliding out at the point of the existing hitch, to facilitate launch on shallower ramps than usual. I'm not a welder but would like to have an extension and looking for options, (other than using a chain, which doesn't give much control and puts a pretty hefty strain on the landing gear and wheel.) Thanks for any and all ideas. Harvey & Deena H M-15 #348 "Pelican" Walla Walla, WA

Hi Harvey, My extendable trailer tongue doubles as both the trailering tongue, and the extenable. If you did not want to have a similar configuration, you could have a welder rig up another piece of square tube, plus a couple of brackets to hold it. My rig uses a steel pin, plus a lock pin to hold the tongue in place. Contact me off line if none of the above makes sense, or if you're swinging through Portland, we could perhaps set a time for you to look at my trailer. The tongue extension I had built isn't removable, but it's not located at the point of the existing trailer tongue. It is located several inches to port and slides out when needed. It does require that I unhook from the trailer and move the tow vehicle to align with the extension. It was the most reasonable solution in my case due to the fact that I have surge brakes on my trailer and a standard telescoping tongue just wouldn't work. Mark Dvorscak M17 #400 GRACE
