Its Bob Eeg, forwarding a message from the Norsea27@yahoo groups. I'am using my daughter Hollys email account; I'am having some trouble with my Netscape 7.1 I will file my personal report of this very fun occasion soon. I really enjoyed meeting all the M_boat people, especially Tod Mills who actually pulled out a 'frosted mug' (from the Bowels of his M_17!) and served me the best beer I'd had in a long while... anyway, here is a message from Celia and Al who bought KRISTINA the red Nor'Sea 27 that Wayne and Kristina Carpenter sailed on a 15,000 mile voyage with their 2 kids and mother-in-law. They were on the cover of the April 1981 CRUISING WORLD and Wayne wrote a book called the Voyage of Kristina. (I brought 3 new copies to the party..) I invited Wayne and Kristina to attend this Hess Fest, and they arrived to visit their old boat, Kristina. What fun..! Kristina, the Nor'Sea 27, has in addition to Wayne and families trip; also has two double Atlantic Crossings...! Here is the message from Celia on the Norsea27 list....: We were so grateful to all those at the Lyle Hess rendevous! Thanks need to go out to Kate Christiansen in the planning and execution of the roundup. It was thoughtful to include other Hess boats other than the Bristol Channel Cutters. As we sailed up to the dock, it was overwhelming to see "Sirius", "Aduna", "Aloha", and "Polaris Jack"' all Bristol Channel Cutters lined up in a row on the dock! Later, we were to be joined by the only other Norsea 27, "Queen of Hearts. Bristol Channel Cutter "Whisper", and the Montgomery 17's, "Miss T", "Carpe Ventum", "Walkabout", and "Busca Brisas". Additionally, many other owners of Norseas, Bristol Channel Cutters and Montgomerys were there, sans boats (for various reasons) all proud to be among their fellow Hessians! Hey, there were even a few other boats that were there because they were Wanna Be's! Lot of photos abounded and it was great to meet Bob Eeg (who came all the way from California!), Wayne and Kristina Carpenter and all the other tremendous folks. We got so many ideas from the other sailors and our project list grew a few more pages! The planned rendevous dinner at Vera's Resturant was fun and lots of toasts abounded! Berny's toast was my favorite and my heart was warmed by his words. We had so much fun that we stayed on another day anchored out on our boat along with John Corson, on his Norsea 27 "Queen of Hearts". Wayne Erickson, who was there at the roundup with his dog, Smokie, but boatless (his NorSea 27 "Warm Rain" was in the boatyard) made home on "Kristina" for the day and then came out the next day for a sail with us. Several boats, who stayed overnight went over to the 1812 re-enactment with the "Pride of Baltimore II", a tall ship. With the remnants of Hurricane Jeanne lurking about, S/V Queen of Hearts and Kristina stayed the night for a Norsea 27 mini-rendevous at anchor. The next day, missing our fellow Hessians, we headed for Solomon's Island. S/V Queen of Hearts and Kristina stayed side by side in the marina for three days while the tornado blew through. The hurricane, downgraded to a tornado, ripped off the roof of the visitor's center 1/2 mile away. We had the corner of the tarp blow up during the blow but John on the Queen of Hearts and I chatted out our hatches and cockpits during the tornado! A whole lot of rain and a day later, we were visited by Berny and Ray DiStasio from BBC-28 "Whisper". BCC28 "Whisper", N27 "Queen of Hearts", BBC28 "Polaris Jack", and N27 "Kristina" stayed till the next day to depart safely. Bright and early yesterday, N-27 "Queen of Hearts" headed out for New York, and "Kristina" left to Smith's Creek, off the St. Mary's River enroute to Mill Creek, Virginia. "Miss T", and "Busca Brisas", Montgomery 17's went south as well. Hey, this Hess rendevous was never going to quit! The next night, we had a raft up visit from "Miss T", who joined us for dinner and drinks and a morning send off. We saw him float over to "Las Brisas" and tie up along side for a mini Montgomery 17 raft up! Kristina got here to Mill Creek and will spend the week here. So I guess the Hess rendevous for us is finally over almost a week later! Thanks again Kate! Tomorrow morning, Kristina will attend the Mill Creek Sailors 2004 Fall Regatta and Boat Fun. It's just the neighbors (of my in-laws) on the creek with six boats participating. Kristina will be the committee boat. She's built for cruisin' not racing! If you are in the area, stop on by! Call us on Channel 16 or our cell (760-214-6444) Next Friday, Kristina will be headed to Yankee Point Marina for the "Turkey Shoot Regatta". If you're a Norsea 27, Bristol Channel Cutter or Montgomery in the area, drop us a line and we'd love to meet up with you! Another rendevous!! It will be a special affair since Alan's 83 year old dad, Lorry Jorgensen, will be sailing his boat up to participate as well! We have had a very full week and have made many new friends in the Norsea, BCC and Montgomery world! If only Lyle Hess could know this! I know this would not have occurred without the tremendous effort of Kate Christiansen and all the other Hess boat owners and friends. Thank you to everyone who made up feel welcomed and part of the group. To those who are considering the roundup next year....you do not need to have your boat with you. I could not believe how everyone welcomed those who had come without their boats. Even during the time when we were the only Norsea there, we were at home. It was very touching. To see all the different Lyle Hess boats lined up and sharing stories, ideas and dreams....it was very overwhelming! Thank you so very much! See ya next June!
