I'm putting a 4:1 outhaul adjuster on my boom, following the Harken pattern, but I can't figure out how to mount the cam cleat, which has a flat base, on the curved surface of the boom. I'm using an existing horn cleat temporarily, but that partially defeats the purpose of quick adjustment. Has anyone solved this problem? Am I missing something obvious? It wouldn't be the first time. Thanks Rick M17 #633 Lynne L
Rick, I use a jam cleat (AKA clam cleat, V-cleat) on my 4:1 outhaul, and it works fine. The mounting holes are in line with the boom. Rick: to add to Rich's information - use a Clamcleat CL211 MK1. www-link - http://www.clamcleat.com/cleats/cleat_details.asp?theid2=17 be sure to use one of the alum types. :: Dave Scobie :: Sage Marine --- On Thu, 4/19/12, Rich Makela <richmak@makelaperformance.com> wrote:

Thanks, guys, I'm off to West Marine. I'd get it online except I'm racing Saturday. Rick M17 #633 Lynne L On Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 8:40 AM, W David Scobie <wdscobie@yahoo.com> wrote:

To solve the mounting problem, you have to build (out of wood, or plastic if you are proficient) a transition piece. The inside surface, the round contour that fits the boom diameter, with the outside flat surface you need to mount your outhaul. Then you can place the outhaul where you want, and the assembly is held together with the mounting screws. (put some bedding material between the boom and the wood piece). Connie
