Bill, Welcome to the crew. I am in a similar situation, having obtained M-17 #633 (also vintage 2005) a couple of years ago, also in top condition, which I'm trying to maintain. I also have red bottom paint put on by the original owner who kept the boat in salt water. I'd be interested in your experiences if you decide to remove it. I loved my boat the day I bought it, and the past two years have only increased my admiration for the design, build, versatility, and sailing qualities. I both cruise single-handed and race in PRHF regattas and the boat does proud in both. You've made a great choice, and I'm sure you'll enjoy both the boat and the great people on this forum.
