** Price Reduced** 2001 Montgomery 17 #615 "Alina" for Sale in Northern CA
2001 Montgomery 17 #615 "Alina" for Sale in Northern CA Here is your chance to own the best of the old and the best of the new. Alina is a 2001 Montgomery 17 which has been upgraded and pampered since she was purchased in June of 2001. She came well dressed from the factory with several options including shore power, and a rare teak and holly cabin sole. Since then, she has made several visits to Jerry Montgomery's shop, where he has equipped her with a custom rudder, carbon fiber boom (with internal outhaul), custom Harken traveler, and several other upgrades which make her a very special boat! With her ivory lap strake hull, royal blue stripe, and teak toe rail, hatchboards and hand rails, Alina is strikingly beautiful. But looks aren't everything, and Alina has the track record to demonstrate her outstanding performance. She took first place at the 2001 SCA Cruiser Challenge. And to prove it wasn't just beginners luck, she took first place in the first race, first place in the second race, and first place overall in the 2002 SCA Cruiser Challenge. You can read more about Alina in Small Craft Advisor Magazine issues 11 (09/10 2001), 18 (11/12 2002), and the upcoming issue 20 (03/04 2003 I think). Alina was also featured in Small Craft Advisor's "Mini Cruiser Madness" video. Alina is stored in a fully enclosed 10X30 storage unit which keeps her looking like the day she left the factory. Here is a partial list of her features and equipment: - Pulpit mounted running light (by Jerry Montgomery) - Foredeck / Steaming light - Fortress Anchor w/chain and rode - Stainless steel bow pulpit - Forestay relocated to tip of bow for improved performance and added strength (by Jerry Montgomery) - CDI FF2 furler - 100% Jib by Elliot Patteson (fitted for furler) - 150% Genoa by Elliot Patteson (fitted for furler) - Main sail with loose foot and 2 reef points by Elliot Patteson (Returned to Elliot Patteson for installation of second reef point) - Custom carbon fiber boom (by Jerry Montgomery) - Boom vang - Windex - Forward hatch - Nissan 4 stroke 4 Hp outboard with internal and external tanks (regularly serviced) - Additional mast compression post (by Jerry Montgomery) - Custom Harken traveler (by Jerry Montgomery) - Custom Rudder (by Jerry Montgomery) - Rudder Pintles and raise/lower hardware relocated to make rudder more effective by dropping rudder an additional 4 inches (by Jerry Montgomery) - Lewmar winches - Adjustable Backstay - Spare centerboard (ordered just to keep on hand) - Spare rudder blade (standard blade replaced by custom blade) - Spare aluminum boom (standard boom replaced by carbon fiber boom) - Full 12v DC/ 120v AC electrical system - Deep cycle marine battery - Tasteful blue fabric upholstery - Teak and holly cabin sole (Factory) - Teak trimmed interior - Porta-Potti - Pacific galvanized trailer - Spare tire and lock mounted on trailer - Internal locking lazarette and cockpit hatches (by Jerry Montgomery) - Lifejackets, throwable cushions - Flare kit - Fire extinguisher - Matching blue fenders - Matching blue Mooring lines (2 15' and 2 25') - No Through-hulls (except for cockpit drains through transom) If you buy a new Montgomery 17 and equip her as Alina has been equipped, you will be into her for well over $21,000. I'm asking $17,500/Offer for Alina and the work is already done! If you are seriously interested and able to take delivery of her in Northern California, please contact me (Bob Campbell) at racsrv@aol.com. But hurry before my big-boat-itis wears off and I come to my senses!
Bob, Take a deep breath and think about what that big boat really costs (want my Catalina?) be for you sell your Montgomery. I've kept the M15 through several bouts of BBItitis, and I have been grateful that I did. Not bad Advice Steve!! I've been up and down the boat ladder myself and found that there is only one sure-fire cure for Big-Boat-Itis. Unfortunately, the cure's not permanent! I own an '84 M17 and have a 1/3 partnership in a '78 Pacific Seacraft Flicka. I sail the M17. The Flicka has been dry since the fall of '99 for lack of funds (even with costs split 3-ways): She has been my big-boat-itis cure. I notice that the majority of the boats sailing, in all conditions, in West Michigan, are 25' or less. The monster-yachters just don't seem to get out that often. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Campbell To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Saturday, March 15, 2003 2:02 AM Subject: ** Price Reduced** 2001 Montgomery 17 #615 "Alina" for Sale in Northern CA Not bad Advice Steve!! Craig Its all relative. What might be a big boat for us, may be a 'too small' craft for others. A proper Yacht can be small, seaworthy and compact. Lyle Hess always thought that. Go small, go simple and go now was the mantra. Its nice to have a boat you can single hand and doesn't eat up your budget. Fair winds Bob Eeg Honshells wrote:

If you buy a new Montgomery 17 and equip her as Alina has been equipped, you will be into her for well over $21,000. I'm asking $17,500/Offer for Alina and the work is already done! If you are seriously interested and able to take delivery of her in Northern California, please contact me (Bob Campbell) at racsrv@aol.com. But hurry before my big-boat-itis wears off and I come to my senses!
