I am buying the 7'11" MMP dinghy. It will be a companion to the Hess built Fatty Knees I already own. I will be using the sail rig. The other boat is remaining with the seller. I may have mis stated those facts in my previous post. Among the grandkids I have been blessed with are two boys. The dinghy's are for their sailing education. Thanks for the prompt reply to my query. I check daily for Montgomery blog postings. The Trailer Sailer blog has almost no discussion regarding Montgomery boats. Dave, Please correct me if I’m wrong but when Jerry closed MMP, no one wanted the dink molds and they were destroyed? All except the M-6.8, which is now owned by a company in Australia. They rearranged the forward bench which eliminates the ability to adjust the trim while rowing. Due to shipping costs, it’s impossible to get a new M-6.8, unless of course you win the Mega Millions lotto and money is no longer an issue. ~Skip <Sent from my iPhone>

Actually the Aussies have returned the center seat to how the 6'8" was initially configured. It is later when the USCG rules changed/updated the flotation rules, it is my understanding, that resulted in the large center 'block of foam' seen in many 6'8"s (such as mine). I don't know when Jerry implemented the leeboard on the 6'8". I’ve built a load of 6’8” s and 7-11s See both here. The 6-8 has a Center seat that is water and air tight for flotation. Often people would ask for a 5-8 and I would put a piece of waxed Formica in the mold.
