I like those nav. lights in the hull. Maybe not as visible as on the pulpit, but very salty. I wouldn't mind putting a set on my boat if they were available somewhere. Larry Y.

On another subject, but same website, what do you guys think of the navigational lights in the hull? The wiring would be easy. The bow seems higher than the M15. I haven't seen this type of light in all the usual places that I've looked. I wonder where they put the steaming light? I'm looking for a way to have lights without going up the mast. Has anyone used the cabin sides for nav lights?

The light assemblies are 7-3/4" long by 2-3/8" high and fit nicely in the top lapstrake. Jerry M. may have to provide supplier information. I didn't see any info on the light when I ran outside to measure it just now. Hi folks, I'm kind of barging in here, as I wasn't following the thread, but I just wanted to mention something if the nav. lights you're talking about are the red and green ones mounted on the hull, just below the deck joint near the bow. It's my understanding that it is not legal to have those nav. lights mounted below the gunwhale - I think that perhaps it used to be. I checked this out while restoring my M-17, which also had the bow lights mounted on the topsides, just below the hull/deck joint. In my case I bought a red/green combination and mounted it at the top-front of the bow pulpit. I snaked the wiring up through the pulpit, which I drilled and pre-threaded while I had it off the boat when I recored the foredeck. I can't find any regulation prohibiting nav lights below the gunwale. I checked the Oregon State Marine Board and the Coast Guard regulations. Does anybody know where this prohibition might be verified? I doubt that boat manufacturers would still be producing boats with these lights if the Coast Guard didn't approve. Still, I've been wrong more than once and I would like to know for sure. Mark Dvorscak

I found what looks like them on sailnet.com as item SEA400180. They are made by Sea Dog and come as a pair for about $27. The following web link might even work: http://www.sailnet.net/store/item.cfm?pid=19990 -- Brian Ripley '88 #421 M15 Roseville, CA --- Larry E Yake <leyake@juno.com> wrote:
