Montgomery Panther - Any Info?
To Whom It May Concern, I am a brand new subscriber to Montgomery Boats and joined, hopefully to find any information that one of you might have on Montgomery Panthers. I have just purchased what it purported to be a Montgomery Panther 16' racing hull from the mid-70's era.. Apparently there were only 15 ever made and I am in search of any info that might be available. Dimensions are: 15' 6" TOL, 6' 9" Beam. This hull, to my understanding was designed to race against Lasers, yet due to liability insurance issues was never brought into full production. She currently carries a main, jib and spinnaker at just over 400 sq. ft. I would Sincerely appreciate it if any of you might have some info on this design and any history behind it. Thanking You in Advance, Brooke **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? There's a new fashion blog, plus the latest fall trends and hair styles at StyleList.com. Brooke... That boat is not a Montgomery boat. I hope you didn't get conned into buying what you thought was a Jerry Montgomery sailboat. I had an email from a guy a few years ago named James B. Wamboldt who had one. I think Ron Holder did a few of those boats....Not sure. Send me a Jpeg of it. Fair winds Bob (949) 489-8227

Hi Brook- Yes, I made the molds and tooled the Panther in the mid 70's. It was radically light and fast for those days, and designed by my friend Ron Holder and inspired by the aussie 18's.. A great performer, optimized for the light air of Newport Beach.
