Re: M_Boats: Seafoaming at the mouth!
Todd, Having been a shade tree mechanic all my life and having been somewhat where you appear to be in regard to a 'small motor not running'. I think you would be best served by seeking professional help at this stage. If the professional OB motor dude is fair, this should not be an expensive repair-probably a carb clean- clear jets kinda thing. If you are not familiar with the process of rebuilding a small carburetor (minuscule thingies fly out when disassembled!), my $.02 of advice would be to avoid the trauma of lost parts and springs installed upside down. It would be safer, easier, and probably cheaper to let the Brain Surgeon fix it. Early and mid 80's OMC products have a 'siphon tube' plastic part that deteriorates when exposed to modern blended fuel chemical compounds - who da thunk to look there??? If the Manufacturers technician knows their stuff, they may save you much grief. Everybody has to be an expert in sumthin' They know OB engines. Just ANOTHER unsolicited load of free advice- and worth every penny paid and charged. Good Luck Gary O.
