Hello, I'm brand new to this forum, I really admire Montgomerys, and I'm wondering if an M15 could be kept on a beach that dries completely at low tide? Our waterfront home on Puget Sound has a great place to dock a boat, but only one that can sit on its hull when the tide goes out, which is twice daily? It's a very calm, protected inlet with no wave action. Would an M15 work in such a place? Thanks for your replies! Bruce W Sent from my iPhone

Thanks for the reply, Dave. I understand that with the shoal keel the boat wouldn't sit flat, it would lean somewhat, and boat weight would be distributed on the keel and hull. Is that a problem? Would that lead to issues in future, and therefore is it not recommended? Also, is there a different configuration of keels for the Sage boats? The 15 and 17 have pretty different drafts. Last, is it tough to find used Sages since they're so new? Bruce W Gig Harbor

There are reasons, muddy reasons, why those of us who sail in South Puget Sound carry and read charts and tide tables. Hi Bruce... I don't think leaning the boat is going to hurt anything. I would be concerned with gravel and rocks. We had a customer who kept his 15 on a ball in Glen Cove. Twice a day the boat sat down in mostly sand. Be well Bob Montgomery Boats 949-489-8227 Sent from my iPad

I unexpectedly was high and dry in my M15 at a shallow dock, while sleeping aboard in the middle of the night. I ended up running a dockline to a piling to center the boat upright balanced on the keel- it didn't do any damage but we were in soft sand. Google "beaching legs" for an excellent solution people often use in shallow areas with a large tidal swing. It should be possible to build some for the M15.
