I have been thinking about installing a stern rail myself. I was thinking that It might be possible to cut access holes about big enough for your hand just below where the rail attaches to the transom. The holes could be cut in the cockpit liner at that point and later sealed with screw type deck plates, maybe a 2" diamater. Does that sound feasible?
