Welcome to the Montgomery Sailboat Owner's and Fan's Mailing List!
Why not post a short note telling us about yourself and your boat and where you sail?
Well, at least in answer to Ron, M 15 / 249, who spent some years at the river Rhein, I will follow the suggestion and introduce myself: After sailing different boats in the mediterranean, especially a Flicka 20 over seven years, I ended up with a roomy 7 meter "family-boat" for me and my wife, a "swimming caravan", as I told in the article "Classical or practical" in SCA ( thanks to Editor Joshua Colvin, who made my English readable!): http://smallcraftadvisor.com/content/classical/index.htm But nevertheless I am thinking over a much smaller, more "salty" boat just for me alone - only with the possibility to have a occasional guest. Easy to move on the trailer, fast to rig and launch. To make even weekend-sailing a realistic, enjoyable option. But with a boat, able to cruise the baltic coast singlehanded 2 weeks or longer for example. Thats why I am just focussing on the Montgomery 15. But I have one problem: I am 60 years old and like to have a seat for reading a book or eating in the cabin without "ducking". So I just work on drawings to arrange this in the M 15. (I know, the M 17 offers all I am talking about, but in opposition to my "family-boat" I want the advantage of a realy small, "easy going" boat with only two shrouds, no backstay, no winches etc. .....) Has anybody else made a real, major re-design of the M 15 interior to get a comfortable seat? (I dont talk about solutions like cushions in the space designed for the Porta-Potti etc.) Best Regards from old Germany, Michael Anderson Karlsruhe michael@anderson.de
