Re: M_Boats: Havasumontgomerys bites the dust!
If you are looking for an excuse to lie the project to rest, then by all means enjoy the extra sailing time. You deserve it. However, if you are willing to spend a little time, some (most? all?) of the content is still retrievable. Going to the web site shows a banner with register/login buttons. It's probably a means to farm email addresses. I didn't try it so I don't know if registering and then logging in will get you to the contents. I looked through the html source code and found a section with 56 links listed. Each one of those links is still active if you go direct to it. For example, <http://havasumontgomerys.piczo.com/havasupocketcruiserget-togetherpokerrun>. The following is a complete list. Just paste the section after the web address. /oldhomepage /1979m2383 /triptoflorida /newhighwayshoesfor83 /bottomblisterswingkeel /rudderrepair /lakepleasantazm23s /ballastreplacement /montymugs /montyt-shirtsandsweatshirts /montyhats /newhardwareinstallation /dauntlesssailswiththepotters! /profilepage /januarysail /aycbirthdayregatta /march07sailinhavasu /sanjuansday1 /sanjuansday2 /sanjuansday3 /sanjuansday4 /sanjuansday5 /aquisition,repair,andongoingprojectspages /sailingandphotojournalpages /sanjuansday6 /sanjuansrouteday1 /sanjuanrouteday2 /sanjuansrouteday3 /sanjuansrouteday4 /sanjuansrouteday5 /sanjuansrouteday6 /channelislandsventuraanacapa07 /havasupocketcruiserget-togetherpokerrun /12voltsystemre-work /havasupocketcruiserspokerrun08pictures /2008socalpottercatalinatrip /channelislandsanacapaislandventura08 /2008lapstraket-shirts /2009havasucruiserspokerrun /fullandby /a /favphotos /2009havasupocketcruiserspokerrun /2009havasupocketcruiserspokerrunday2 /2009havasupocketcruiserspokerrunawards /2009havasupocketcruiserspokerrunday3 /m7-11 /bosunspage /montgomerysailboatownerssanjuangulfislands /t-shirts,sweatshirts,hats09 /2010havasupocketcruiserspokerrun /havasupocketcruisersitinerary2010 /camperpictures I suggest grabbing them while you can. I used "wget" on my Linux laptop to download the contents of these pages for viewing from my PC. Maybe someone can post a better program suggestion. The web service I initially used for the Havasumontgomerys site as well as the first years of the HPCC event....finally totally flaked out. For years now I have been unable to access the site to make any modifications. I could never get ANY response from the webmaster or company for support. I finally gave up, and went to Godaddy making the new Sailhavasu site. Well, now I see the HavasuMontgomerys site is gone and with it a lot of the history of Dauntless and her restoration. Bummer.. All attempts to contact Piczo.com meet with absolutely no response. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. I still have archives of pictures and stuff on discs...but I really don't have the time/desire to locate and rebuild it all. Oh well! it was fun while it lasted!!!! ------------------------------
