Doug, You are correct in noting the splice being the weak point - technology being what it is today vs ten years ago - the splicing method employed by most good companies that do this type of work is to overstitch the splice as they are prone to coming unwoven - by overstitching the spice is quite strong - have used this type of mainsheet for yeats on my C-15'2 (2 boats) and my current M-17. Chack with Anapolis or other good companies that do quality splicing work. - If you atre interested I will try and get photos in two weeks when we sail the AZ Yacht CLub B-Day Regatta.
