Since the 17 is 3/4 ton, the formula would call for 3-hp. You can either round up to 4 or down to 2. The big factor arguing for the 2 is the light weight. I'm also not young, but can schlep the Honda 2 around with one hand (although I admit I usually use two). Rick M-17 Lynne L ************** Vote for your city's best dining and nightlife. Hi Rick, I loaned a friend with a motorless M17 in the Thames River, New London, CT my 2 HP HONDA to move the boat from his mooring to a launch ramp a mile upstream. We were four adults on board; the tide was running out; we were going upstream against normal current plus outgoing tide. The 2 HP HONDA handled it with ease, and at about 3/4 throttle. We didn't set any speed records, but we got there safely with power to spare. Connie JDavies104@aol.com wrote:

Maybe some one will know if the Nissan outboards are still the outboard of choice for the Panga fleets in Mexico. Last I was there, that's the only outboard the locals used because of the reliability. I too am about to buy an outboard, my criteria is under 60 pounds which means 6 or less hp. Try this link for some good prices on the Nissan/Tohatsu (same outboard) http://aquamaxdirect.com Bill On 6/13/08, chbenneck@sbcglobal.net <chbenneck@sbcglobal.net> wrote:
