Re: M_Boats: A retrieval trick
Steve, I've done that a few times also. I did install bunk board guide boards in the middle of the trailer and the PVC type trailer guides at the aft end. It's like a corral, she lines up and goes in. Before I had this set up it could be a real struggle at times. Texas sailing- if anyone is in the area a group of us are planning sailing next weekend ( Choke Canyon, Tx ). Regards, Randy Watkins M15#194 & Classic Dingy 10.
IDCLLC@aol.com 01/10/02 08:01AM >>> Greetings to fellow Micro cruisers. I had the good fortune to go sailing yesterday in Amy Ann, our P-15. We live in middle TN, where it's been well below freezing for weeks. However, yesterday was sunny with highs in the 60's and a good breeze, so I played hooky and went! Old Hickory lake was marvelous, and full of bird life-cormorants, gulls, ducks, canada geese and great blue herons to name a few. What a stress reliever!
Coming back in, I faced a crosswind at the ramp. On my last sail, I struggled hard in a crosswind to line the Potter up so it would go onto the trailer straight. Since the water temp was near freezing, I wasn't looking forward to repeating that experience. While backing the trailer up, however, it occured to me that I didn't HAVE to pull straight into the water-I could cock the aft end of the trailer to leeward. This I did, and then floated the boat down to the trailer (I'd beached Amy Ann to the windward side) until the two lined up. Pulling her up onto the trailer was a snap. Yippee! Hope this proves useful. Fair Winds, Steve Tyree, P-15 #2098 "Amy Ann"
