Doug, do you have in the archves/or has anyone submitted significant line drawings/plans for a Montgomery? I would be interested in finding enough data to construct a scale R/C model of my 17 for use on local ponds. Might be an area of interest for more than one of us. A mini-challenge may be in the offing. Thanks, John Lubliner M-17FD #69 "Coyote"
I don't know of any drawings of that detail that are available, I guess Jerry, Bob, or the Hess family might, but what about using a life-size three-dimensional version i.e., the boat? Is it difficult to take off the necessary measurements from the boat while on the trailer? I suspect the trailer could be cranked and jacked until the floor of the cockpit is level to get correct elevations, assuming a level cockpit is the right point of reference. It'll take one he** of a pair of outside calipers, though. I ask, clearly knowing absolutely nothing about model building and sailing. I wonder if anyone would be interested in those half-hull models to hang on the wall. Might be another possible use of the measurements once they were obtained. John: Count me in if you know of anything to use as a starting point, I can provide cad drawings if needed. I'm not intrested in building a rc model, but I would be intrested in securing/producing drawings of a M17. Wayne- I csan send you a copy of the hull line draw9ings if you can do the deck on your drawing programs. If you do, maybe you can put the finished deck drawing on a disc so that I can import in into one of my programs; I have SolidWorks, Rhinoceros, and Vellum, but I'm not real bright with any of them, in fact with trying to do anything resembling a boat they make me feel real stupid. Are you talking about paper copies or electronic files? I will try anything, if need be I can measure the deck on my M17, I have auto-cad & will try to save you files on a disc in a format you can load, I think dxf format might work for your programs. We can send files to each other as an attachment to a e-mail too. ,Let me know & I will work something out.
