Gary Vanilla is the most rigged out M-15 I've ever seen. I also noted a bracket for the autopilot. What type do you use? One day when you get a chance, you can provide some details on the additions that have been made to the boat. I've though of cutting the "v" shaped plywood board that covers the portapotty in half sideways and storing the cushion and potty forward, opens up the cabin sole area and provides a place for the icechest and stove kit. My bunk cushion is all one piece, If I had it split into three pieces, I could convert one of the bunks into better storage for solo cruises giving better access to the lockers. I've also thought on adding several 50 # sandbags to the sole area for some extra ballast when singlehanding. I notice that she handles a lot better in a blow with two aboard. Anyone ever done that? BTW - I've heard from a guy with a Suncat in Raleigh who is thinking about upgrading to an M-15. I told him to contact the MSOG and see if he could get a ride. The only 15 I know of in the area is Blew Moon in Savannah. Anyone else? Don
Don: The autopilot bracket was installed by Ed Brock, the previous owner, but I never saw the autopilot unit. My guess is that it was the least expensive available at the time--late 1990's. I currently use only a rope and jam cleat, the idea learned from Larry Yake who I think got it from Tom Smith. Someday maybe I'll get a real autopilot, but the rope-cleat system works very well short term for single-handing. --Gary On Saturday, September 11, 2004, at 05:15 AM, LUDLOWD2@aol.com wrote:

Don: Regarding the portapotty arrangement, I have mine in the original position and I mount my Origo stove on top of the port bunk, less the cushion. I added wooden cleats to keep the stove in place. The hazard to avoid cooking in the cabin is frying anything that could result in a grease fire. I put foam for floatation in the forward compartment under the v-birth. If the potty were there I'm not sure there would be sufficient head room to sit on it. Regarding balast, I noticed when sailing in strong winds single handing my boat and with Vince and Sharon Himsl sailing their boat, they could handle the winds better with the two of them on a reach than I could alone. We were making 6.2 knots when we went wing and wing down wind that day. As I mentioned earlier, the previous owner had the autopilot. If you find a good reasonable one, let us all know. --Gary On Saturday, September 11, 2004, at 05:15 AM, LUDLOWD2@aol.com wrote:

Don: I recently installed a Simrad TP10 autopilot on my M17. Contact me if you want further details. Maria Jorge ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary M.
