Hi Bill, No, I am using the 2 HP Honda on my Montgomery 15. I sold the ComPac 16 years ago. That had the 2 HP Suzuki which was a great engine / boat combination. At half to 3/4 throttle the Suzuki pushed the ComPac 16 at hull speed - depending on load. I found the 2 HP Suzuki (or probably any 2 HP outboard) more than enough power for the ComPac. Connie
Connie, Thank you very much for the information. I am trying to figure out if the Honda 2hp will do an adequate job on my old M 17. I will count your vote as a yes. Bill On Saturday, May 24, 2003, at 09:40 AM, chbenneck@juno.com wrote:

Bill, I use a 2 HP Honda 4 stroke on my 1980 M17 (with the cutout in the transom) and find it more than adequate. I have heard some people say that if you are in open water bucking waves and currents that it may not be enough. Dan M17 #316B Bill Sylvester wrote:

Dan, My M17 is a 1978, also with the cut out transom. I was hoping that the Honda 2HP would work because of its size and weight. I am happy to hear positive comments from you. The question: Will the Honda 2HP be adequate on an M17? That's Yes - 2 No - 0 On Saturday, May 24, 2003, at 01:01 PM, Dan White wrote:

My vote: The 2 HP would be fine on a M 17 until it wasn't. A 4HP would work all the time. For my 2 cents worth it depends on where you sail. If in a lake all the time, no tide currents, fairly light winds a two horse probably will suffice. I you ever take it in the ocean or a bay you will want a little more power. Mine is a 4 horse and works well on my M17 , my suggestion is a 4 hp. Thanks Wayne, I think you are right. I think I will choose a 4HP Tohatsu. Bill On Monday, May 26, 2003, at 11:15 AM, wayne yeargain wrote:
